Certified Safety Manager TÜV®
More and more safety standards, such as ISO 26262 or IEC 61508, recommend the implementation of a safety management system. The corresponding organizational role is the Safety Manager.
The Safety Manager have cross-functional responsibilities and is responsible throughout the organization for developing and maintaining the safety management system, as well as for communicating safety information.
In this course, you will acquire specialized knowledge in the field of safety management at both, the company and project levels. You will gain comprehensive knowledge of the structure and requirements of a safety management system. You will learn about the aspects of interaction and integration with common quality management systems. Furthermore, you will acquire the competence to design and implement a safety management system adapted to different levels of the organization. You will also be aware of the crucial importance of an organization's safety culture and the significance of roles and their impact within the company.

The admission requirements for the certification exam are
- Proof of completion of the Certified Safety Manager training course from TÜV AUSTRIA Academy or an equivalent course
- Proof of completion of the Certified Safety Specialist ISO 26262 TÜV® training course (Verlinkung zu diesem Kurs) or proof of completion of the Certified Safety Specialist IEC 61508 TÜV® training course (Verlinkung zu diesem Kurs) from the TÜV AUSTRIA Academy or an equivalent course
- Proof of completion of basic training in system safety from the cooperation partners FH Campus Wien and TÜV AUSTRIA Akademie or an equivalent course (Verlinkung zu diesem Kurs)
- Proof of completed technical training (HTL, FH or university degree) or at least three years of relevant professional experience amounting to at least 25 hours per week.
- Application for the Safety Manager certification exam at TÜV®
The certification exam takes place after the end of the seminar and is
- a written exam (multiple choice) and/or open questions
Upon successful completion of the certification exam and fulfillment of all admission requirements, you will receive the TÜV AUSTRIA Personal Certificate Safety Manager TÜV®, which is valid for three years.
To extend your certificate for another three years, you need to present…
- the application for recertification
- a proof of specialist training comprising at least 8 teaching units (Training courses completed within 2 years before and 6 months after the certificate's expiry date will be recognized.)
- a proof of at least two years of relevant professional experience within the validity period of the certificate (e.g., confirmation from the employer, interim certificate, job description)
The application and supporting documents can be submitted no earlier than 6 months before and no later than 6 months after the certificate expires.
