ASME Code (BPVC)
The ASME Boiler and Pressure Vessel Code (ASME BPVC), is the largest standard developed by the American Society of Mechanical Engineers.
It regulates design, manufacture, inspection, and testing of boilers, nuclear components, and other pressure vessels.
BPVC also includes standards for materials, welding and soldering procedures / qualifications, as well as non-destructive testing.
A pressure vessel manufacturer requires an ASME Certificate of Authorization for the specific ASME Code section under which a component is to be manufactured. Among other things, as proof of conformity, the components must be stamped by the manufacturer with an ASME Certification Mark.
